The SuperFly FDT is the exact same board/shape as the SuperFly FD. The only difference is the trench to accommodate the Foil Drive Gen 2 and other Foil Drive units. As well as Foil Drive Gen 2, it also will accommodate the Manta unit.
Although the volumes of these sizes are a few liters less than the original SuperFly FD boards, in the water and when the board is in use there is no difference that can be noticed.
Volumes:
I was made aware of the incredibly cool Foil Drive propulsion system when a friend of mine here on Maui called to ask if I had any of my Super Fly prone foil boards in stock. When he came to pick one up he told me that Paul Martin of Foil Drive had made some videos for his Foil Drive system and out of several boards he had been testing with his Foil Drive, the Super Fly was one of his favorite boards of the bunch. Within a few weeks the entire inventory of Super Fly boards I had in stock sold as more and more people began using the Foil Drive system.
I immediately saw that I needed to produce a new Super Fly model with my super functional, unmatched efficient bottom shape. Paul had mentioned some of the things he liked about the original Super Fly and one thing I heard was the low rocker. With my "seaplane" bottom shape, the rocker can be extra low without ever sticking. The nose of the board can poke into the water at speed and before the rider even feels any resistance, the board is planing again. Everything about the new Super Fly FD model complements the Foil Drive system, and vice versa. This model is not limited to being used with the Foil Drive. It can be prone paddled with the same results and efficiency and wing foiled as well.
